Motorcycle Clothing for Women

Do women motorcyclists need different gear? Well, yes and no. In essence, all of the clothing is the same, but there may be different adjustments or requirements when it comes to women’s motorcycle clothing.

Firstly, women’s motorcycle clothing doesn’t just mean clothing that is smaller, but fits in a completely different way form men’s. Let’s take for example the jacket. A jacket for men will likely be more straight cut, with more room in the upper arm area, and falling straight down from the chest. For women, the arms generally need to be more snug, with a shorter sleeve length. The shoulders and chest will be narrower, and the jacket will come in at the waist instead of falling straight down. When trying on, it’s a good idea to wear different layers underneath to test for all kinds of weather.

When it comes to trousers, a similar rule applies. Men’s are generally straight cut or boot cut. Whereas women’s will need more space in the hip area and tighter fitting on the leg – which is often a style choice as well as a fit choice. Women have way more variety in trousers too, and can choose styles that roll up for boot options.

When it comes to footwear, the heel on the boots may be a little higher, although not a high heel by any means. The boots are often narrower in the foot as well.

Women’s motorcycle clothing often has the advantage of more colour options – we want to look good, after all.
