Things to Look Out for When Buying

The world out there can be a scary place, and not everyone in it is honest. When buying a second hand motorcycle, keep an eye out for these dodgy things and run for the hills.

  • No documents – if the person selling can’t prove it’s theirs, that it’s been tested, or anything else about it, this smells fishy. Assume the worst and leave.
  • No plates – a lack of plates on a motorcycle screams dodgy. Plates are an important way of proving a vehicle is yours, registered, and its history.
  • Price too low – if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Chances are, the seller is probably hiding something, whether it’s beneath that shiny paint job or some hidden documents.
  • Different mileage – check the mileage on the documents match up to the mileage on the bike, and on the ad. You want to make sure you get what you’re paying for.

As well as buying second hand from ads and online forums, you can opt for a more safe choice of an intermediary, a company that is the best of both worlds.
